Many prime properties in Delhi, specially in South & Central Delhi, fall under the restrictions of an act formed by Archaeological Survey Of India to protect the heritage monuments.
As a result hundreds of prime properties either fall under prohibited or restricted category around these old monuments. Under the prohibitory category no construction or excavation is allowed within 100 meters of the protected monument.
If the property is at a distance of more than100 meters but less than 300 meters, then it is classified as restricted, then construction may be allowed but with special permission. The permission however is not very easy get and can take lot of time due to departmental red tape.
Many posh South Delhi areas are plagued by this problem like Hauz Khas, Green Park, Panchsheel Park, Sarv Priya Vihar, Mayfair Gardens, South Extension Part 1, Nizamuddin East etc.
